A figuration of inner fractures and the struggle to maintain wholeness despite lack of acceptance, both personal and external. In the center, a broken gear, a symbol of emotional dysfunction and inner chaos is suspended with a fragile twine, poised between the raw canvas (the invisible interiority) and the white canvas (the physical body). The white drippings on the raw canvas represent the psychological emptiness left by the rupture, while the seven cold, dark colors of the gear recall the deadly vices, symbols of isolation and despair. Twenty-one colored circles on the blank canvas represent the positive things in life-hopes, affections, joys-almost obscured by the dark colors, symbolizing the progressive dominance of the suffering. Eight steel nails fasten the structure to the frame, evoking the unbreakable bond between body and soul and, at the same time, leaving space for a hope for a new beginning, thanks to the universal meaning of the number eight as a symbol of rebirth and balance.
