A break from the usual practices followed in pictorial composition: instead of perfectly measured straight lines, there are imperfect, ruler-less squiggles that move vertically and horizontally without a predictable pattern. A “polemical self-portrait” of someone who, being “too” precise, deliberately decides to sabotage their own formalism, allowing the “anarchic thought” which here is a way of thinking with the hand—to emerge: the refusal to plan in favor of the possibility of changing direction at any moment without having to justify the choice; the mind refuses to accept predetermined paths but proceeds freely. A sort of “collectivity” of the mark (multiple colors, multiple voices, multiple lines in a single hand), which limits fine control over the individual stroke. The artist renounces the surgical precision of the individual tool to embrace chance the randomness of color combinations and the small divergences between the lines that emerge together.
